About Me

Carol Yellin, MFT has extensive training in working with children,  adolescents and adults.  Carol is a licensed marriage child and family therapist (MFT 17183) who has been in practice since 1982.   She has a special education learning credential as well as two master’s degrees in special education and marriage, family and child counseling.  She was an educational therapist for a number of years and remains current with the learning disabilities literature.  Carol has also been Director of Admissions at Park Century School as well as Pacific Point Academy.

Carol does psychotherapy  with children ranging in age from four to eighteen, with a primary focus on the teen years.  She uses a “whole child” approach and does a careful analysis to determine what issues are keeping the child or teen from performing at their optimum.  She frequently consults with parents to establish a collaborative appproach to best help their child.

Additionally, Carol’s background in special education accompanied with her counseling skills enables her to be an excellent case manager for families.  Carol uses a team approach in recommending and integrating the ideas of other professionals to help a child and their family.  She most enjoys helping cihldren who are not succeeding in their current academic environment.

Carol also sees adults in her practice.  She has a strong cognitive behavioral background, which allows her to utilize concrete suggestions in working with clients.  Additionally, her interest and teaching in mindfulness is used to help clients deal more effectively with particular issues. Carol is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Carol maintains a private practice in Brentwood.
